    Dr. Ronen Tal-Botzer

    Director of the Genomics and Biomedical Informatics Program at Sheba Medical Center and Bar-Ilan University, Israel

    Dr. Ronen Tal-Botzer is an expert in Artificial Intelligence (A.I.), with combined experience in the academic, technological and business environments. 


    He is a renowned speaker and consultant for various companies that develop A.I. in a wide variety of disciplines, such as algo-trading (Final - Financial Algorithms), mobile technology (Quixey), medical devices (Medtronic), advertising (DDB), communication (AT&T) and others. For the past 15 years Ronen has been a data mining and software development lecturer at Bar-Ilan University. Since 2013 he also directs the Genomics and Biomedical Informatics program for MDs, a joint venture of the Sheba Medical Center (the largest hospital in Israel) and Bar-Ilan University.


    Ronen has founded two companies in the field of A.I.: "Sense" that develops advanced data science algorithms to provide personalized feedback to students in massive open online courses, based on their free-text answers to open-ended assignments; and "Correlor" that helps telco companies, mainly in Asia, optimize commercial offers to their clients, based on their personality profiles as inferred from social networks.


    His academic education includes a Double Major degree in computer science and biology from Bar-Ilan University (graduated Summa Cum Laude), and a Direct Ph.D. program in Intelligent Systems (recipient of the President Scholarship and the Rector's Award for Outstanding Research).

    Prof. Qiang Yang

    Founder of the Huawei Noah's Ark AI Labs

    Head of the Computer Science and Engineering Department HKUST

    Qiang Yang is the Head of Computer Science and Engineering Department and University Named Chair Professor at Hong Kong Univ. of Sci. and Tech (HKUST). 

    He was a founding head of Huawei Noah's Ark Lab specializing in big data, data mining and artificial intelligence.

    He is the program chair of 2015 International Conference on Artificial Intelligence (IJCAI-2015). He was the general chair for the 2012 ACM Conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining (KDD-2012, http://www.kdd.org/kdd2012/) and a Program Chair for KDD 2010. He was also a general chair for ACM Recommender Systems Conference in 2013 (ACM RecSys 2013).

    He is the founding Editor in Chief of the IEEE Transactions on Big Data (IEEE TBD). He was the founding Editor in Chief of ACM TIST Journal (ACM Transactions on Intelligent Systems and Technology).

    He is a fellow of Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), American Association of Advancement of Science (AAAS), International Association of Pattern Recognition (IAPR) and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). 

    Dr. Sinuhe Arroyo

    Founder and CEO, Taiger

    As founder and CEO of Taiger, Sinuhe Arroyo is responsible for the global strategy and the execution of the business plan of the company.


    Prior to launching Taiger, Sinuhe worked as corporate development manager at phion AG. In this firm Sinuhe completed the acquisition of Visonys AG and successfully established new business partnerships internationally. He was as well in charge of analyzing product portfolio determining profitability and ranking, resulting on improvement of offer focus, market position and profit growth.

    Before phion AG he worked at DERI as project manager, taking part in several world-class research projects that laid down the foundations of the semantic technology. In this company. He acted as well as member of the executive management board of various multi-million European Framework projects advising and influencing on strategic issues as required.


    Sinuhe began his career at iSOCO S.A., contributing, and already in 2000, to one of the first commercial semantic technology projects worldwide.


    Sinuhe holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a PhD in computer science (computational semantic technology) from the University of Innsbruck (Austria).

    Dr. Sunny Siu

    Chief Strategy Officer and President of APAC,

    ProphetStor Data Services​

    Dr. Kai-Yeung Sunny Siu was Chief Scientist of Raza Foundries, Inc., a leading Silicon Valley technology incubator and venture investment firm from 2000-2002. In 2002, Dr. Siu co-founded RMI Corporation, a leader in multi-core processor technologies and was its President of Asia Pacific. RMI was acquired by NetLogic Microsystems (Nasdaq: NETL) in 2009, and Dr. Siu became NETL’s President and General Manager of Asia Pacific. While at NETL, Dr. Siu was involved in the acquisition of Optichron, which developed advanced digital front-end processor solutions for wireless communication. NETL was acquired by Broadcom for US$3.7B in 2012, and Dr. Siu joined Broadcom as Managing Director for Greater China of the Processors and Wireless Infrastructure BU. He is currently Chief Strategy Officer and President of APAC for ProphetStor Data Services, a technology company with leading software defined storage solutions.


    Dr. Siu holds a Ph.D. and an M.S. in electrical engineering from Stanford University, a B.E. (summa cum laude) in electrical engineering from Cooper Union, and a B.S. (summa cum laude) in mathematics and computer science from New York University. Dr. Siu was previously an endowed-chair associate professor at MIT, a recipient of US National Science Foundation Young Investigator Awards, as well as best paper awards from IEEE and SPIE for his research on networking and distributed systems. Dr. Siu is the lead co-author of a research monograph “Discrete Neural Computation: A Theoretical Foundation” published by Prentice Hall in 1995, based on his Ph.D. dissertation.

    Mr. James C. Yao

    Executive Director of Kneron, a leading pioneer in distributed deep learning technology.

    Mr. Yao has nearly 30 years of experience in the technology, venture capital and private equity sectors, having worked in Silicon Valley, Beijing, Taipei and Hong Kong. Apart from Kneron, he also works closely with various idea accelerators and investor groups on investment opportunities across multiple industries with a primary focus on Greater China.


    Mr. Yao began his career with Oracle Corporation, where he started in product management at its headquarters in California, then progressed to head country operations in both China and Taiwan. Mr. Yao then crossed over to the networking industry, initially as Managing Director of Greater China for Banyan Systems, then expanded his regional experience as VP of Asia Pacific Marketing for Anixter, a leading US data communications firm, where he built and managed the firm’s Network Integration business throughout Asia.


    After his tenure in the corporate world, James founded AsiaTech Ventures in Hong Kong in 1997. As a pioneer in Asian technology venture investment, James was instrumental in many cross-Pacific investments in the US and Greater China region. Over his career in Asia, Mr. Yao was a seed investor and director in various Silicon Valley start-ups, including NetIQ (Nasdaq:NTIQ) and Ecosystems, which was acquired by CompuWare (Nasdaq:CPWR).


    A native of Taiwan, Mr Yao is fluent in Chinese, Taiwanese and English. He holds Bachelor Degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Management Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

    Dr. Noah Silverman

    Founder, Data Science

    Noah Silverman holds a PhD in statistics from UCLA, and has worked with data and technology for over 20 years. 

    The focus of Dr. Silverman’s work is on developing probabilistic models for complex and stochastic systems. 

    Some of his specialties include complex predictive modeling, Hierarchical Bayesian models, machine learning, nonlinear classifiers, support vector machines, and textual analysis. He has published several papers on mathematical modeling of complex data systems with innovative analysis methods. In addition, he has developed successful solutions for a large number of clients in Finance, Digital Advertising, Sports Betting, crypto-currency, Education, Medical, and other industries. Prior to consulting, he conceptualized and founded several technology firms including webclipping.com and trademarktracker.com.

    Joshua Sams

    Managing Director, Barista Ventures

    Joshua Sams is a successful entrepreneur, technologist and angel investor with extensive experience in finance, startups and application development. His technical focus is on consumer Internet, analytics, artificial intelligence and real-time web application development.


    Previously, Joshua was the founder and CEO of Sprowtt, a development-stage investment bank and alternative exchange, where he developed the first technical implementation in the field of legal informatics. As the CEO of TechCrunch 50 company, he also managed the firm's securities law compliance, operations for underwriting automation. Through a spin-off, he also played a critical role in developing technology which is in use by the trading engines of private equity and hedge funds.


    Joshua most recently joined Barista Ventures as Managing Director. Barista Ventures specializes in the high-growth and high-scalability needs of early stage companies. Barista is a global product development and venture partners firm, which works with early stage companies. Through Barista, Joshua has led technical development, and supported operations and financing in logistics, healthcare, AI, cryptography, and consumer web products.


    Previously Joshua was active in emerging markets. He actively managed investments in developing markets, and is known for speculating against risk arbitrage opportunities in emerging markets, and has extensive real estate development experience, spanning three continents. Joshua attended Harvard University and has a broad educational history, studying behavioral economics and with interests in combinatorial mathematics and physics. He began programing at the age of 6, is an accomplished musician, and is also a frequent guest lecturer. Most recently he originated the draft securities reforms that passed the House, as an advisor to White House Office of Science and Technology.
